Robert received his structural engineering degrees from Technical University of Munich (TUM). He works as a court approved witness, as a consultant engineer and as a chartered design review engineer since more than thirty years in private practice. During his career he was responsible for major German and international infrastructure projects, for high-rise commercial buildings, for developing restoration and enhancing techniques of existing structures, like the breathtaking roof of the Olympic stadia in Munich, as well as for developing structural revamping strategies for chemical and petrochemical production plants. He is a leading consultant both for national and international approval bodies and for governments on structural safety issues. He also gives expertise statements for courts, both civil and criminal.
Since 2012, he is Professor at TUM, where he teaches design and construction of Temporary Works Equipment and Earthquake Engineering.
Besides his consulting and tuitional engagements, Robert has been member of the board of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), of the Federal Association of Chartered Design Review Engineers (BVPI), member of national and international advisory bodies on structural safety, and chairman of national and European standardisation committees.
